To Roman....(a poem not about sex)

What do you really want and how will you get it?
These thoughts run rampant in your mind never allowing it to rest
Like a broken record they replay over and over again
You hide behind those shields it took years to construct
Thinking you are protected
Believing no one can really see who you are
Or know the thoughts within your mind
What your desires are
You try to blend in with those around you
Your sadness and loneliness
Camouflaged with a false smile and eagerness

Have you built the walls so high and deep
That even you yourself can no longer see
The true beauty of the soul that lies within?
Untouched from all dangers of the outside world
The one wishing it could stand up and scream to all
Everything you wish you could easily say
It cries out for mere acceptance
But you keep its voice silent beneath those walls
Never allowing it to be seen or heard
While you seek an easy and quick solution
Convinced that this is where your happiness lies
Only upon arriving, you realize you left something behind.
