Summer of Color Week 6 - Sage Green and Sepia

well I at first thought of doing a grasshopper....then turtles, crocodiles, lizards all came to mind. I went with sea turtles....kept is simple and it is okay...but I am not thrilled with it. I then thought of the Creature from the Black Lagoon and how the colors would have been perfect for him...so I decided to do a quick one of him.....here they are ....sad to see this end again ....but look forward to next Summer of Color!

Summer of Color Week 5: Candy Apple Red and Yellow

This week's colors for Summer of Color 2013 were CANDY APPLE RED AND YELLOW. I immediately thought of a dragon...and a zentangled dragon....where I could turn him red and have yellow trim. I also trimmed the edges again in gold...and I added gold highlights to the dragon as well. Summer of Color Week 2 - Hot Pink and Orange!

 This week's colors were hot pink and orange. I immediately thought of so many gorgeous sunsets we see around here in the fall and summer...always what I call those Charlie Brown skies as they look just like the skies you see on the old Charlie Brown movies. LOVE those! Anyway, this book for my project this year is rather small..so I decided to do a mixed media piece....Mod Podged on tissue papers and other papers....doodled and then painted on top of that and covered with more Mod Podge after I added an Inka Gold trim. I think it feels nice and rich and warm...and I love suns and sun faces...not sure why I decided to stick the hand on here. Sort of reminds me of an Aztec design with the sun face and background. Anyway..this is what I ended up with. VERY difficult to get the true colors to show up correctly here in picture form..but I have various shades of hot pinks and oranges. Summer of Color 2013 - Week One - Colors Citron Green and Turquoise

Well week one of Summer of Color used the color prompts CITRON GREEN and TURQUOISE....I decided to make a small book this year to do all my prompts in so I would have something that would hold all my artwork and would be easy to look at. The front was very summery...and I did the back with fireflies and then realized I had actually used the colors in our week one on the back of the book..but I still went ahead and did a 2-page spread inside for my first week as well. I decided to make a book to keep all my Summer of Color 2013 creations in this year. I am going to try to actually DO my creating IN this book...but..if I cannot keep things in the confines of these small pages I will do a larger piece and then just snap a pic and stick the PIC in the book. I worked on the cover yesterday....
