sketch/drawing challenges....

I have been trying to allow myself time every night to work on a bit of creativity...art...something. I have many little sketchbooks and art journals..and have new media I want to try working with...so I have been challenging myself...to produce something and turn something around in like 30 minutes or so.....every night...just doodles..something. I do not yet have all the pens and things I would like to have in order to finish some of my doodling..but..it is a start. Here are a few things I have worked on..all not taking very long....like 30 minutes to under 1 hour....The sea pic was actually the same shades of blues as the snowy one...but the camera did not show the colors that way. I was trying out colored pencil fast sketches.

The brush pen black and white sketch was a challenge where I decided to give myself only 30 minutes to create a completely black and white sketch of something. I was trying out new brush pens I had received in the mail. This is what came out. I have not completely finished it ...but it is what I got done in 30 minutes...and I know the scale is off....

I think the child reflects the child in us all....and the fact that the face ended up in a balloon just reflects the child being carefree....light....happy....and then there is the adult face....which turned into a tree...I think that reflects how as an adult we can sometimes develop roots that go really deep..so deep we become stagnant...and not willing to change...or move...or be free.....and darkness hovers over us all the time...and always in our thoughts...over our shoulders in the distance ...is the passing of time and what awaits in the future....death...the end of what we know on this Earth....weird how deep sometimes simple 30-minute sketches come out!
