the Kymaro body shaper.......yeah right......

Perhaps if you could actually get a Kymaro body shaper ON it might SHAPE your body. Most women however, even buying a size larger, can rarely pull the top shaper up past their knees!

One night late at night I was flipping channels on my television and saw an infomercial for this Kymaro body shaper. Even though I wondered how one might be able to breathe when wearing a Kymaro body shaper, I have to admit they had a good sales pitch....and they sucked me into thinking I needed to buy one.....so.......I decided to order one.

I don't really know why. Do I need a body shaper? Probably not.......not because I don't need to shape my body but because I don't need to spend that kind of money on something that is probably too good to be true.

The Kymaro body shaper is supposed to smooth out all your lumps and bumps and flatten your stomach and where all that excess goes is a mystery to me. When mine arrived and I pulled it out of the box it seemed rather stiff to me. I unfolded it and had to laugh out loud after seeing the size of it and said to myself "yeah right!" I began to wonder how I was supposed to step into this and pull it up to my knees let alone over my thighs...my ass...and then my stomach.......to finally end up on the TOP portion of my body. I had a funny feeling I was going to get a work out.

I contemplated putting the shaper on OVER my head and pulling it down into place.......but was afraid it would stuck get around my neck and I would asphyxiate myself. I could not imagine being found with a body shaper taut around my neck and naked purple body dangling below it...all lumpy and bumpy.

SO I began at the feet. I managed to get one foot actually INTO the shaper before almost falling down. This caused me to bust out laughing. I fell back onto the bed...and wondered if I could even get back up. I managed somehow....and began PULLING the body shaper UP.

The body shaper needs to come with a couple of handy helpers who can magically pull the shaper up and over your body properly......and then return a short time later to remove it. It took me a long time to get it up.....and once I had it in place.....I had more rolls and lumps and bumps than I ever have in my entire life. This made me laugh even harder and I thought to myself this would be a great game to play at a family reunion! A Kymaro body shaper race of sorts...seeing who could put one on faster.....OVER clothed bodies!

I wondered how any woman.....plus sized or not.....could effectively wear this undergarment and survive for even a few minutes let alone for a night on the town. AND if she did venture out and got lucky ...the Kymaro bottom body shaper would be better than any chastity belt. I can pretty much guarantee no man would be able to remove it from her body with his bare hands, or a helper, or even a wench. Perhaps a pair of scissors but it is doubtful one would be able to place the scissors in between your pinched skin and the body shaper to begin cutting anything. It is most likely your flesh is the only thing that would end up getting cut.

HOW I managed to finally wiggle and maneuver my way out of the Kymaro body shaper I have no clue. I wrote my adventure off as my work out of the century as I had beads of sweat all over my body......which only made the Kymaro body shaper stick even more so to my already hot, sweaty body.

How would I RATE the Kymaro body shaper? For a body shaper a THUMBS DOWN....for obvious reasons.

I would give it 5 stars and a HUGE THUMBS UP however, for use as a catapult to launch fighter jets off military ships or to stop them when coming in for a landing.

Ladies, if you are up late at night and the Kymaro body shaper ad appears on your television screen....quick......change that channel! Do your body a favor.....save your money.......and enjoy breathing a little longer.

hahaha....sounds like the girdle/corset thing I wore on my wedding day! Hooks connected the thing at the crotch so I could go and pee. I was afraid that if I unhooked it I would never get them hooked again!

If the shaper came with a couple of those men I posted I would buy it in a heartbeat! :D

well this is all smooth....no snaps ..I cannot imagine trying to snap anything anywhere on a Kymaro body shaper...what a rip off!

Thanks, Melissa! I too am a night owl and almost got suckered in until I read your post. No Kymaro for me!

Melinda, you're an absolute hoot! I have never laughed so much in my life - almost wee'd myself but that's another bane of middle-aged life!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU...I was doing a search for the Kymaro Body Shaper and came across your blog...and must say LMAO! You are hilirious! The girls @ work were wondering what the heck I was reading..if they only knew. Thanks again for saving me $50.00! I should stick to my own philosophy "If its too good to be true" it is!

I wish I'd read your comments ordering this "too good to be true" body shaper. Sigh..... I think Kymaro makes its money from the "Shipping and Handling" fee. Oh well, it was a good lesson. Thanks for your comments.

Melinda said...

I just remembered I STILL HAVE THE ONE I ORDERED!!!!!! OH NOOOOOOOOO! haha..oh well.....

YES the shipping makes it difficult to really make any money back on it if you have to return it. That happens with a lot of things I order online.

hum..maybe this could be a gag stocking stuffer!

It left black shoe polish like stains on my nails, knuckles, and fingers from when I tugged it on. The stains would not wash off with soap and water. I am going to try nail polish remover. The top rolled up to a pinching band right at my waistline. The bottoms just might work to keep the jiggle down. Worth the money? Nah.

I actually had a co-worker who bought two and let me borrow one to try it out. I have been basically living in this thing. I love the way it looks in everything I wear.

BUT, I don't have much of a butt or hips, or thighs. I carry all of my weight in the midsection and up top (very much top heavy and muffin top).

I just wanted to say your experience made me laugh, but was the complete opposite of mine.

Good luck in finding the right body shaper for you. For me, where did that credit card go???

Anonymous said...

Thank you for saving me money!!! I have tried all kinds of shapers, my favorite is a "Sears brand"... it is only 20 bucks, and works great, but I always look for the latest and greatest!!!

I loved your story! Thanks for the review!!!!

Beware! This is a scam. It's very cheaply made and I orderd a size larger just to be safe. Could not begin to get it on. The free (9.99each)are not returnable. Do not waste your money.

Hi my name is Laura and I am going to have nightmare now, I surely wish I would have logged onto this and saw this as one of my 5 top head line stories on my homepage sooner. As quite frankly ladies I sit here awaiting the delivery, (rush delivery I might add) of my Kymaro!!! Ugg!!!! Yikes!!! she asked me my bra size and gave me a size 4 top and 5 bottom!!! Yikes and she asked me how much I weighed.

Anonymous said...

Welllllllllllll, actually I did order the Kymora -- two of them in fact and I absolutely LOVE them. They do exactly what the commercial said they would do. Yes, I pull mine up from the bottom, and it definitely smooths as it goes -- and then I put on the bottoms -- and I love it too. When I took them out of the box I didn't think either would fit, but they do and in my opinion they were worth every penny I paid for them.

I wish I would have found this site before being so stupid as to order this in two colors - What a major rip off! Even tho I ordered both in the same size, one will go on (the tan color) but is too big to do any good and the black one is so tight that I feel like I am being smothered when I put the top on. Once on, it does no good, plus all the black stains everything including your clothes. The TV commercial is the most fals advertising I have ever seen. There's no way you look the way they do. I am not a small person, but I am like some of them on the infomercial, & no way do I look like that when I get mine on. Sorry I ever got suckered into their b.s. - Do yourself a favor and don't buy this product. The pants are an even funnier joke, stiff, scratchy - YUCK!

Loved your post, very entertaining. Was wondering though, after all your efforts of getting the thing on, did it actually make you look any better?

Melinda said...

thanks......but holy smokes NO......it did NOT make my body look better....in fact I had more bumps and rolls of flesh in places I never do!

Anonymous said...

OMG!!! Melissa I came across this as I was researching the shaper. You should write chick lit for a living!!!! Thanks for the advice...but is it bad I still want one?!?! LOL

Anonymous said...

I wish I had read your article before ordering that junk. Like you, I am 5'8" and weight around 145lbs., which is not fat for my height. Ordered the right size and once I got it on I had bulges that weren't there earlier. Returned all the pieces and was still charged $39.80 for "shipping & handling." The Kymaro company is a completely fradulent business and something should be done about them. Hope somebody brings a class action lawsuit against them since I will certainly be happy to join it.

I saw this commercial and was joking with my daughter about how I should be a "before" model. I had the credit card out... I was on the phone with the sales person... I was telling her my most guarded secrets (my sizes)... AND I was looking on-line for product comments. I came across yours and immediately told her NO WAY!!! Even though they give you the bottom and extra set "free" there are actually 3 shipping and handling charges at $9.95 AND a processing fee of $9.95 for a total of $39.80 that you DO NOT GET BACK if you return their product!!! Thanks for the heads up - I had a great laugh over your description of being asphyxiated by trying to put it over your head! Thanks - that gave me more positive endorphins than the great feeling of telling the person on the phone that I DIDN'T want their product when she was more than half way thru her sales pitch!

Gave me a big laugh! And for those of you that fall for the ubuyez.com "Free shaper bottoms" and "for a limited time only" double the offer...you find out that it's a huge internet SCAM...with over $60.00 in charges for each PIECE to SHIP/HANDLE. That was being added to the quoted "ONLY" $39.95! I contacted the State Attorney General Office to let them know of the set up. Don't be a "sucker born the next moment!"

I am thankful to have saved you the money too! Thanks for the visit and compliments.

I still have the Kymaro body shaper. I thought about selling it on EBAY but that just seems SO WRONG!!!! I mean I KNOW it is not a good product. I would feel like I was scamming the person buying it. SO it sits in its box.

Sharon said...

Hey I bought this item and well I love mine. I have no problems putting this on, either over my head or from the bottom up. It makes me look great and supports me all the way. I have lost over 100 pounds and I have a little pooch in my belly and the body shaper takes care of that. I wear a size 10-12 depending on how it is made and I bought the size 4 and wqell it fits. I am now ordering me the beige one due to summer and lighter colored clothing. I don't know why everyone else is having so many problems or has had them. I do wish that the website would take my pay pay card but they don't.

Melinda said...

wow Sharon. I cannot imagine if you were a size 10-12 you can get into a size 4 and still survive breathing and moving. But good for you...happy it worked for you. I think in most cases however it does not....and then we lose our money....and no one sends it back cause that costs even more money....it is a big rip off in the end. I would not even feel right giving mine away to a poor unsuspecting soul.

Melinda said...

and from what I remember...without getting up to go check my box......they did not sell in SPECIFIC sizes.......like 4 or 6 or 10 etc....but instead S, M, L, XL.....etc. which would cover a range of sizes. Are you sure you got a Kymaro body shaper Sharon?

Anonymous said...

hmm...i got mine yesterday.. and i followed according to the size chart... when ordering. I did check on to see if there were complaints, though i still insisted on buying it. Well when i tried it on, it worked well, though it still showed some back fat, it had kept my stomach still and not as jiggly as before plus even though it didnt push my boobs up, but with my tummy in place they did appear to pop out more. if you bloggers want a reference i can take a pic. though try not to exploit it XD ^^

Wow, I am so glad I read all these comments. I was ready to order on line, and by mistake found all these comments. I just about spent some of my birthday money on this thing. Thanks to all.

Ladies I can only say that this post has been most entertaining. Melinda you had me rolling in the aisles. The whole thing became even funnier since I to was one of the midnight trollers that purchased the Kymaro. Today is the first experience of trying to shove my skin and all else into the top of this thing. OMG, I thought that I threw my back out when it popped louder than a firecracker. I really liked the way it made me look, but then after wearing it a few hours I discovered that something around the waist just wasn't quite right. Well after a careful investigation it was determined that the top had rolled up on to my back causing the pain around my waist. What the heck is that I said to myself. So what's the resolution now to get that to stay down? Well let me tell you nothing! The bottom seem not to do anything, slipped on like a glove. I was even contemplating calling the company because the bottom has to be the wrong size since it doesn't appear to be doing anything. Well during that same painful time that I discovered the top rolling up on to my waist I also discovered that the bottom that is stretched around under my breast area is also rolling down and cutting into my flesh. Now what can I do about that? Again Nothing. So I am in a situation that I can wear it and know that I will be painfully uncomfortable soon or wear it for a short period of time and have a slightly flatter stomach for a little while. What kind of choice are those at $80 bucks? I vote for the little me to come in the package, that sounds like the best idea of the evening. Thanks ladies for the entertainment especially when I'm feeling it as well. :)

I saw this infomercial this morning and I was going to order it today. I showed my mom the website and saw the lik to the blog. I am SOOOOO glad I didn't order it. I was really convinced by the infomercial, so much so I was going to get my mom to order one. I have to say thank you so much Melinda! I am so glad you posted the blog so people are aware of this scam. I haven't laughed so hard in quite a while! Sorry to hear that it didn't work but glad to hear the comediec description of it. Someone should definitely file a class action suit against them!

Melinda said...

you are welcome. If I had someone to film the entire process...that would have been super hilarious too!...but...I would not want to subject the massed to that!

I bought kymaro body shaper from a friend because it is too big for her. It is medium size. I am 5'1" 120 lb. It fits me perfect. I used to have lower back pain, after I wear it, my back feel much better. I think if I want to buy another one I will buy it from ebay.

Anonymous said...

i think the problem with the kymaro shaper is that it was only designed for people with just a little excess. if you are 20 lbs. or more overweight its a done deal as far as getting it on and if you do get it on it will roll up over your problem ares such as the mid-thigh, the stomach and the lower abdomen. of course a 5'1' 120 lbs person will havee success because the truth of the matter is they really probably dont need a body shaper and a person who is significantly overweight probably needs to exercise and lose some weight to fit one comfortably. i almost ordered one and just as i thought----it will roll, like the rest of them. bottom line ladies its too good to be true. my sister ordered one i cant wait until she gets it. i will keep you posted.

Melinda said...

well the commercial I saw they used 2 women that were exceptionally overweight.....so your theory is probably correct.......and yet on television they used 2 women or more who were very very overweight. It smoothed out their bulges.......but their boobs also looked like torpedoes by the time they got them jacked up in their body shaper! I mean they would poke someone's eyes out if someone came up to talk to you if they were up that high!

I also don't know how those women on the commercial breathed let alone came out then and talked!

Anonymous said...

Uuuuugh!! I knew it!! Watching those models on the infomercial, they are fake. You can tell on the ubuyez.com website the models are fake. The one girl w/side profile - the before model has extra chins, the after model does not. I highly doubt the shaper made the double chins go away. The blonde - well let's just say PHOTOSHOP never worked so well! The purple shirts - one is darker than the other. Holy cow I'm so glad I didn't do it. I'm equally as aggravated as if I had bought one. To make me feel like there was HOPE!! PFFFFT ARSEHOLES!

I just opened the box with my Kymaro body shaper. Boy do I wish I had read this before I opened the box. I would have refused it but the crooks probably would not have creditied my card anyway. Your experience mirrored mine except that I did not get mine all the way on. I was in the "maybe I will get asphixiated if I try any harder" step when I decided to give up and do some online searching. I loved your story and must tell you that it probably has saved me from throwing my back out, cutting off my circulation, and much much worse. I can't believe they actually are allowed to sell that thing with the advertising they use. I never considered myself obese but after trying to get that thing on, I figured I must be at 5'3'' and 140#. They sent me size 3 top and size 2 bottoms. I haven't had the strength or courage to try the bottom on yet. The top did not even come close to getting on by any stretch of the imagination. I commend you for your efforts and thank you profusely for this blog.

Well I had my Kymaro body shaper for about half a year now and it work fine with me. Sure the first time was hard to get on but after a while go on better. I'm not a skinny girl but it do hide some of my tummy fat or "muffin" top and it does make me look little "thinner". People can't tell unless you tell them. I can wear mines for over 8hrs with no problem. If you girl really want to try it go ahead and don't listen to everyone negativity about it, everyone experience is different and make sure you get your right size when you buy it.

btw i'm 5'0 and about 185-190 and it work for me. =]

Whew! I am glad I saw this blog page, I was just searching for the website to check it out after seeing all the infomercials, I thought that the ad was too good to be true for that price, plus keeping the back one free is you return the original one, well, I guess it is back to the drawing board! LOL!!

Okay, well I ordered one and LOVE it! It was not that difficult to pull up and took out those excess skin "bumps", plus made me stand up straighter..but not as straight as on tv, ahha. Anyway, I'm going to order another one for backup.

Anyway i have added a comments section to the website so... if anyone wishes to post a comment feel free.

I laughted so hard this is so funny. I have a friend that said she couldn't breathe with it on.

There is a medical garment that will actually take you down up to 3 sizes instantly and if you wear it to work a few days a week it will become a real weight and inch lost, w/o dieting, excerise or pills.

It looks a little scary but, it is actually very comfortable and it will not show under your clothes. I can send you some pics.

http://www.ardysslife.com/?ID=klstill

I went down 4 inches instantly and I had a real lost of 3 inched (w/o the garment on) on my waist in just a couple of weeks.

They even a Ladies Light Tee that looks like the Kymaro top but, it actually works and it will not roll up.

Thank you

SAVE your money! The model that is shown wearing the Kymaro body shaper has NO bulges to smoothe out! OF course she will look smooth with it on and it will go on easily for her. IT DOES NOT at all if you have bulges or are heavier. SAVE your money!

Thanks - very funny. I'm very tall and need to lose just a few pounds. Thought I would get one to help me and help my posture. I purchased a much bigger size than normal and I couldn't even get it past my knees. I am usually a Size 10, now a Size 12, but 5'10". Need to lose a few, but hardly obese. I was so depressed - couldn't get it even up over my knees and my legs are in pretty good shape. Thank you for your post...turned my depressed mood into a laugh! Fortunately, I bought it at a local store, not on TV. I'm taking it back tomorrow, less work - and healthier - for me to up my workouts again and lose the weight and then buy a normal shaper for those smooth looks. I suspect this thing could hurt me to try and get it back off - it has to be so uncomfortable...
