Wreck This Journal Week #3 (and Creative Every Day)

This week I worked on doodling and coloring and marking up my introduction pages.......

This week I worked on doodling and coloring and marking up my introduction pages.......

I also did the BURN THIS PAGE page with my woodburner...tried to burn holes in the paper....and the words "I'm On Fire" which was really hard to do and I pretty much burned it up. Oh well. I used the black from the ashes to mark the background and liked it so well I went back in and added more black. I will do the page opposite it too next.

I had a BIG entry here....and now it is gone. Oh well....I will start over again.

This week I worked on doodling, and coloring, and altering the introduction pages of my journal. I also did the BURN THIS PAGE page (see above).

This week has been a welcome creative outlet for me. I guess I am still struggling with the "WRECKING" part of WRECK THIS JOURNAL (as you can probably tell). I have looked at other posts and see where everyone is interpreting "WRECKING" as "DESTROYING" ...or at least that is how I am taking it. I don't look at "wrecking" as necessarily destroying.....whether creatively or not. I look at "wrecking" as more like "creatively altering" ....I imagine even for me that will be hard enough to accomplish each week.

I looked up the word WRECKING in the dictionary and found synonyms of "TO DESTROY, TO DEVASTATE, TO SHATTER" and I am having a very hard time accepting that.

I have very little time in my life to have any creative outlets. To PURPOSEFULLY turn around then and DESTROY any of my creativity or work WOULD be shattering to me..which I guess is the "WRECKING" part. BUT also on the other hand.....just marking this book up even with GOOD art is DEVASTATING TO ME. I mean it goes against everything I have ever done! SO isn't that WRECKING for me?

I don't know. I am thinking the WRECKING part of WRECK THIS JOURNAL will be very different for many of us....it will be the way we PERCEIVE it to be. What may be WRECKING to one....will not be to another. What I am doing so far is wrecking to me. My goal all along was to WRECK this journal (alter it) but in a creative/artsy way.....even when I rub dirt on the page that says to rub dirt on it. I will do that.....but then I still want to try to make something GOOD out of the BAD! SO I imagine when I RUB that dirt on the page I will add and embelish and use other methods to then create something "creative" and "pleasing" to my inner being.

Does that still qualify as wrecking? I think it does....because I did the wrecking part....but then I took it a step further.

I am starting to get a headache thinking this through...but I will continue to think on this. I am sure this also is a reflection of my life in general and how I always want to make even something BAD into something GOOD. Yes...I can see that....because in my mind even I am never quite GOOD enough...you know? I could always be better....my work could always be better...my art could always be better.....so even if something is crappy...I always want to bring it up a notch on the standards of what is "acceptable" or "pleasing" to the eye. MY eyes...others' eyes...

hum.......this journal may be opening my eyes

IN MY HEAD: ("Oh there's a dab of dirt there you can't remove? Well let me see if I can make a tree out of it!" Make it look like something else....something MORE than just a dab of dirt. Is that wrong? Am I obsessive compulsive....have I been a recluse too long and have nothing better to do with my time? I don't know. The biggest part of me does not think so or see anything wrong with this way of thinking.) I guess I am a fixer....UPPER.....

but this journal is about tearing down.....

so I struggle...I want to tear down first......and then build back up. In my mind I justify the wrecking part that way I suppose....cause I wrecked it....but then FIXED it....

man...now I need some Tylenol

Week #1 and 2 - Wreck This Journal.....CLICK to enlarge photos if you want...

Well I am not sure if this is actually the second week or the first. I think according to Jamie's post it would be the second week. I just received my book 2 days ago so I am combining the 2 weeks.

After receiving my book I flipped through it and did get a bit excited at some of the challenges and instructions it has inside for me to do with it. AND some seemed VERY silly and some my inner self still fights with doing at all....but I WILL do it all.

I started with the front of the book first....and am trying to remember to carry it with me everywhere I go.

Last night I picked a random page....COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES and grabbed a box of crayons and just went with it. I applied so many layers of colors that my pages now have a shiny waxy buildup on them. I was worried I would OVER do it and not know when it was "complete." (I also did some blending of the colors with rubbing alcohol and an eraser). BUT right about when I thought I had ruined it and done too much....and wondered how I could cover it all up with black paint (which I could do and then scrape off sections or a design to reveal the color underneath with all the wax on there)....I finally realized it was almost done but needed something "extra."

For me..that was glitter. So here is my first ARTSY piece of work in my WRECK THIS JOURNAL series.......and I have to admit....just making time for this....really made me feel so good!

Oh..I LOVE the SUN (as much as the moon!) and have many wonderful SUN sculpture pieces in my home....I love SUN FACES and moon faces...so it was no surprise I ended up seeing a SUN on this one. I started out coloring RAYS outside the circle line......and then...well...the rest is history!

Opie was oblivious to it all......

Wishcasting Wednesday....."What Do I Wish For My Body?"

I wish for my body release of any excess fat...so I can embrace the lean, muscular, strong true me waiting to be seen and recognized underneath. I wish for myself to realize that I can be safe and even stronger and more powerful as a lean, trim person who no longer requires carrying the excess around as a blanket of protection or as a shield of armor. I wish to love myself and treat my body as a temple and realize I am worth it. I wish to remember to take care of myself...to actually put myself on the list every day. I wish for more discipline...to be a parent to myself. I wish for myself to be all I can be and ready to receive.

So I wish for my body to realize I can let the excess pounds of fat go and melt away for good as they are no longer required.

Weight Watcher's Spinach and Cheese Quiche (3 points and 139 calories per 1/12th slice)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

1 (12 ounce) can fat-free evaporated milk
1/3 cup low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
3 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 Basic pie Crust baked and cooled (recipe to follow)
1 box frozen spinach thawed, drained and squeezed dry (10 oz box)

Basic Pie Crust (SUPER good pie crust - 114 calories, 3 points per 1/8th slice/section)

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1/8th teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons cold butter, unsalted, diced
2 Tablespoons cold vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
3 to 3-1/2 Tablespoons ICE water

Mix flour, sugar, salt together. Cut in butter and shortening. Add vinegar....then ice water stirring just till ball forms. Flatten to patty and place in plastic or foil and place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Roll out as you normally would with flour or between plastic wrap. Place in 10-in pie pan.....price sides and bottom with fork and bake till slightly brown...about 15 minutes or so in 400 degree oven.

COOL crust.

Meanwhile for filling of quiche:

WHISK together the evaporated milk, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs and egg whites, salt, and pepper.

On top of cool pie crust sprinkle spinach......pour liquid mixture above over spinach......place on cookie sheet or baking pan and bake for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees.....turn oven down to 350 and continue baking until center comes clean with knife. Mine took longer than recipe said ( they said 20 minutes longer) but mine took more like another 30 minutes longer. Allow to cool. Cut into 12 slices or 6...but if 6 remember to double points and calories if you are counting those.

This was actually very good and pretty simple to make. I think what would have made it better would be tomatoes added to it....so next time I have a slice I am going to slice up tomatoes on top. I also think fresh spinach would be better than frozen and you CAN use fresh. You just have to steam about 8 cups of fresh washed and trimmed spinach leaves for about 2 minutes till wilted...then chop up.

ENJOY!

jumble..........

I read the latest Sookie Stackhouse book in the series...book #9 (Dead and Gone) and I was so disappointed. :(

Many things were not resolved in this book from the prior book....there was not enough action in this book until about 3/4 the way into it and then only for the last couple of chapters.....and definitely also not enough love interest or action between Sookie and Eric.....or anyone else for that matter.

I waited for many months for this book to come out. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the other books immensely.....and was so very disappointed to read this one. BUT I am anxiously awaiting the next book and hope it will be more like the standards set in the prior books.

Otherwise......I had a busy week. I cannot believe this is the second full week in May already. Summer has barely started and I am already thinking fall and realizing how quickly it will be here.

I am getting ready to go plant some vegetables in the backyard flowerbeds for this summer. Then I will be busy working feverishly inside the house getting this room hopefully completed and boxes moved to the garage for storage and rearranging a ton of things.

makes me tired thinking about it........

so off I go for a fun-filled action-packed day!

I cannot believe anyone could possibly try to portray OBAMA as a Messiah......

Artist Michael D'Antuono's painting "The Truth" – featuring Obama with his arms outstretched and wearing a crown of thorns upon his head – will be unveiled on April 29 at the Square's South Plaza.

According to a statement released about the portrait, "The 30" x 54" acrylic painting on canvas depicts President Obama appearing much like Jesus Christ on the Cross: atop his head, a crown of thorns; behind him, the dark veil being lifted (or lowered) on the Presidential Seal. But is he revealing or concealing, and is he being crucified or glorified?"

Even the title of the piece, "The Truth," suggests a play on biblical themes, as Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

WND previously reported a website called "Is Barack Obama the Messiah?" capturing the wave of euphoria that followed the Democratic senator's remarkable rise.

The site is topped by an Obama quote strategically ripped from a Jan. 7 speech at Dartmouth College just before the New Hampshire Primary in which he told students, "… a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote" for Obama.

In January, artist Matthew J. Clark paraded a sculpture of Obama riding a donkey and preceded by waving palm fronds, reminiscent of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem in the 21st chapter of Matthew as foretold by the prophet Zechariah: "Behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass."

Others, such as Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, have been far clearer in their nearly religious adoration of Obama. As WND reported, Farrakhan declared last year that when Obama talks, "the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

Disturbing news.........this latest painting will be labeled "THE TRUTH"??? obama is more about lies than any other current public figure around. This blows me away that anyone has or would make banners, posters, paintings or sculptures to in any way....insinuate obama is a Messiah or Messiah-like.....in any manner connected to "Messiah."

I really have to wonder about the mentality of anyone who falls for all this....and cannot see the real truth ....as obama is standing there smiling his big goofy grin the entire time thinking to himself how he is fooling you all. If he is anything great....it would be a great "deceiver."

I do not acknowledge him as president......I currently live in a country that has no president.

and yet I totally "get" the fact that all this has to happen...for the "TRUTH" to be revealed.......so bring it on.

yeah....unreal. Click title to read more.
